Biography

Michael played volleyball through middle school, high school, and at the intramural/rec level at Sonoma State. He brings a multi-sport coaching background to Aftershock, having coached girls varsity volleyball at Credo High School for five years and boys varsity for two years. He has also coached JV basketball, wrestling, and tennis, plus five years as a kickboxing instructor.

Michael brings a lot of energy to coaching and playing volleyball. As a high school PE teacher, he prides himself on connecting with students to build relationships that allow him to effectively teach while also making things fun and engaging.

What he loves most about coaching is when athletes overcome challenges: an “aha!” moment in practice, or a triumph over a challenging opponent. He says it’s something you can’t put a monetary value on.

He’s played electric guitar since middle school and loves metal.
