Tryouts for the 2026–2027 Aftershock season are coming this October, for every age group (ages 9–18).

If you’ve seen other clubs in the area holding tryouts this summer, you might be wondering where we are. Some associations allow July tryouts for older players. We wait until October on purpose.

The short version: your daughter can still try out for Aftershock in October, even if she’s already been through another club’s tryouts this summer.

Why We Hold All Tryouts in October

  • One season at a time. If she plays for her school team in the fall, school ball gets her full focus first. Club gets her full focus in November. She never has to juggle both. Your family keeps its summer, too: no vacation rearranged around a tryout date, no rushed decisions in July.

  • More accurate placement. A lot can change between July and October: a growth spurt, a summer of clinics, a school season. Trying out in October means our coaches see her current game and place her on a team that matches it.

  • No three-month wait. Club practices don’t start until November. A team picked in July sits idle until then. With October tryouts, teams form and get straight to work.

What to Know About Letters of Commitment

As tryout season begins, you’ll likely encounter a “Letter of Commitment,” a one-season contract binding your daughter to a specific club. Before you sign anywhere, here’s what to know:

  • Aftershock is an NCVA club. If you’ve signed a commitment letter for a WCVA club, it does not apply to us. Your daughter can still try out for Aftershock in October.

  • Within the NCVA, they do matter. Letters of Commitment prevent club-hopping between NCVA clubs. If you’ve committed to another NCVA club, she can still try out here, but you’ll need a release before accepting a spot.

  • Read before you sign. Confirm the club’s association (NCVA or WCVA) and carefully read the refund and release policies. No surprises later.

Pre-Tryout Clinics

Our popular pre-tryout clinics return this fall: a chance to sharpen her skills and build confidence before she steps on the tryout court. We’ll post clinic dates as soon as they’re set.

Ready to join a club that does things differently? We’ll see you in October.
