“Pass on my love of the sport. Knowledge is key to learning. Grow the game.”

— Rich Schwarz

Biography

As Director of Player Development, Rich monitors the progress of teams and players and supervises coaches to maintain a consistent standard of teaching skills and coaching techniques. He mentors new coaches to help them develop a coaching philosophy that includes their development as coaches, coach/athlete satisfaction, and achievement of superior athletic results. Rich is also responsible for continuing education and accreditation of all coaching staff.

What drives him is passing on his love of the sport and giving players an outlet to grow, both as players and as people.

Rich first coached volleyball in 1989 at Piner High. He returned as the freshman and JV coach for Windsor High School from 2005-2008, then coached varsity from 2009-2019. He’s been coaching club volleyball since 2004. On the playing side, he started with two years of boys club volleyball in 1978, played men’s club from 1980-82, and has traveled to Dallas and Louisville to compete in the Men’s 50+ Open Nationals.

Rich’s love for the game runs deep. Both of his daughters played for Aftershock and have also coached for the club. Off the court, he loves camping and wakeboarding with his wife Belinda.
