Tryouts schedule has changed!

Our tryouts schedule has changed. Here are the changes:

8th Grade and Under (Ages 9-14)

Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27

Please note the time changes:

14 Years Old

Registration: 10:00 – 11:00 am
Tryouts: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

9-13 Years Old

Registration: 12:30 – 1:30 pm
Tryouts: 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Make-Up Tryout for 8th Grade and Under (Ages 9-14)

Sunday, November 3
Registration*: 10:15 – 10:30 am (in the Multi-Purpose Room)
Tryouts: 10:30 – 11:30 am (in the Gym)

* To expedite registration, please complete this online form in advance of the Make-Up Tryout, and then bring a completed Registration Form and $50 (check or cash) for the Tryout fee.


9th Grade and Above (Ages 15-18) – No changes

There are no schedule changes for this age group, however, we have added a Make-Up Tryout for girls 15-18 who missed both tryouts on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20.

Please refer to the USA Volleyball Junior Player Age Definition Chart to determine which age group tryout to attend.

Aftershock tryouts are open to all junior girl athletes. No invitation or past experience is required. Every effort is made to place players on teams that are in alignment with their experience and skill sets.

8th Grade and Under (Ages 9-14)

Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27*

14 Years Old

9-13 Years Old

If you are 14 years old and are in the 9th grade, you can opt to tryout with the 15’s. However, if you are fairly new to volleyball, we suggest you attend the 14’s tryouts. If we feel you can compete at the 15’s level, we will invite you to attend the 15’s tryouts (at no additional charge).

* Players who missed both tryouts on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 can attend a one-day Make-Up Tryout. If a player came to either the Oct. 26 or the Oct. 27 tryout, they do not need to attend the Make-Up Tryout:

Since November 3rd is the date of our Mandatory Team/Parent Meeting and Club Member Sign-Ups, players attending this Make-Up Tryout who are offered a position on a team will need to decide quickly if they wish to accept the position or not. They may also need to return at a later time in the day to meet with their team, be sized for their uniform, and for a parent to complete the necessary paperwork to become club members, as well as to pay the club fees.

Cost
$50 one-time fee.

We accept cash, checks, money orders or cashier’s checks. Sorry, we do not accept credit or debit cards, or digital payment apps such as Venmo or Zelle.

Tryout Registration Form
Please download and complete the Tryout Registration Form in advance of tryouts and bring with your payment to your designated tryout. This helps to speed up the registration process. For those who are unable to download and print out the form in advance, we will have blank forms available at tryouts.

 

Other Information

  • There will be optional parent meetings offered at each tryout approximately 15 minutes after the start of the tryout for those who have questions about Aftershock or club volleyball.
  • Parents who wish to stay to observe may wish to bring their own folding chair as no seating is provided.

First Team Practice/Parent Meeting and Member Sign-Ups

Sunday, November 3

Following tryouts, the coaches will contact players/parents with team placement information. Upon acceptance, players/parents will be informed of next steps, including what time to show up on November 3rd for the first team/parent meeting and club member sign-ups. So, please hold this date on your calendars so you don’t miss this mandatory team/parent meeting & practice.
 

Safety Protocols

With the flu and COVID season upon us, we ask that participants self monitor and stay home if they are experiencing a fever or any other illness symptoms.

If you are unable to attend tryouts due to illness, please contact Club Director Craig Hardisty so he can work with you on a possible solution. Thank you!

Summer All-Skills Clinics 2024

Whether you are a beginner or a skilled player who wants to maintain their skills, this 6-week program has something for everyone. Our focus will be on developing individual technical skills (hitting, serving, passing, defense), and position specific skills (setters, hitters, passers, libero/defensive specialist, middle) to help you improve your technique and gain confidence on the court.

No prior volleyball experience is required. This program is open to all girls, whether or not they have played on a club or school team.

Participants

Girls ages 10–18. Help us spread the word and invite a friend to participate with you!

Clinics Overview

The first one or two clinics will be to evaluate participants’ abilities in order to place them in a group with similar skills and experience.

The remaining clinics will consist of practicing with your assigned group. These practice drills will help athletes to become stronger, more accurate, and more knowledgeable in their volleyball skills and the game of volleyball.

Participants will need to bring their own knee pads and water. Parents are welcome to attend to observe.

Dates and Times

  • June 11–July 24, 2024 (no clinics the week of July 1-5 in observance of the July 4th holiday)
  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays
    • 10-14 years old: 6:00–7:30pm
    • 15-18 years old: 7:30–9:00pm
  • Twice a week for 1-1/2 hours each clinic

If you are 14 years old and you played on a 15’s club team this year, please come to the later clinics for the 15-18 year old age group.

Parking at the site is limited, but there is usually additional no-cost parking available across the street during the evening hours.

Cost
